Christmas ornament

Have you seen the Christmas ornament on the front page of the Autumn/Winter catalogue?  Isn’t it gorgeous?  I have been longing to do this since I first saw it and have finally managed to get around to making one.  There are loads of tutorials on the internet for this, but an easy one to follow is that from another Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, Angie Kennedy Juda of chicnscratch which you can find here.

I didn’t make mine exactly the same, but this is what I ended up with:

I love this ornament.  It is so easy to make, although it did take me a couple of hours the first time around.  The trickiest part is die cutting the stamped images as you have to position the die just right, which takes time.  You need to stamp 20 of each of the two ornaments, so you can just imagine how long the die cutting of 40 stamped images took!

Here’s a close up of the ornament:

The glitter round the edges really sets this off.  then the rosette in the middle which was actually the very first one I have ever made and ok, yes, you can see the join in this photo, but this was my first ornament so I consider it to be a prototype which can only be improved upon!

I’m planning on making more using different colours and different stamps from the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set as this is a wonderful Christmas decoration.

Stampin’ Up! supplies used:
Ornament keepsakes bundle (wood mount 129949, clear mount 129950)
Classic stampin’ pads (Gumball green 126861. raspberry ripple 126859)
Linen thread  (104199)
Scalloped tulle ribbon (cherry cobbler 127841)
Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack (126904)
Dazzling details (124117)
Pearl basic jewels (119247)
Vintage faceted buttons (127555) – I have to admit, I didn’t have any of these in at the time so used one from my stash

But stay tuned as tomorrow, I’ll be able to bring you news of an amazing offer from Stampin’ Up! for the Ornament Keepsakes bundle.  I’m just gutted that they have brought this out now when I already have the set!

Thank you cards

Have you ever needed a quick and easy card that takes seconds to make (well, not exactly a few seconds, but it really does only take a few minutes;)) yet looks really effective?

When I first became a demonstrator one of the stamp sets I had in my starter kit was Easy Events:

I’m finding this stamp set so useful, it is my “go to” set for just about everything!  I used this last week to make thank you cards for my customers who placed an order (and abject apologies if you are reading this, Alison, I forgot to put your card in with your order, so I will give it to you the next time I see you):

Aren’t they cute?

Here’s a close up of the flowers:

I coloured the flowers in and added the pearls to give a bit of wow to the card.  All in all , a really a quick and simple card to make that looks pretty good (I’m so modest ;) ).  It just shows you don’t need to add a lot of fancy stuff to a card to make it look good.

Stampin’ Up! supplies used:

Whisper white card stock (106550)
Easy Events stamp set (wood mount 116958, clear mount 123225)
Daffodil Delight write marker (119677)
Gumball Green write marker (126861)
Basic Grey Classic Stampin’ Pad (126981)
Pearl Basic Jewels (119247)

New Autumn and Winter catalogue blog hop

Apologies for the delay in getting this up and running, but I have been away in Harrogate all week and didn’t get chance to set this up before I left.

I hope you’ve been enjoying the amazing creations using the goodies in the new catalogue – I know I can’t wait to start ordering everything on my wish list.  The only problem is, I don’t have an unlimited bank balance!!!

Anyhow, I was spoilt for choice when it came to deciding what to make for the blog hop, and I decided to go with a Christmas card.  I find that there are just not enough cards reflecting the true meaning of Christmas.  Oh, yes, there are lots of gorgeous cards with snowmen, gingerbread men, penguins, Christmas scenes and so on, but what about Jesus and the reason for Christmas?  I was so pleased to find that with the new catalogue, we got many of the faith stamps the US has had for ages, and this one was my first choice:

I love this stamp!  It’s “First Christmas” (127991) from the Autumn/Winter catalogue.  Pleas ego take a look at the Autumn/Winter catalogue (the link is in the side bar) as there are some really gorgeous stamps in there, especially if you are looking for Christmas or Harvest ones.

The background paper is from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper (126904).  It;s the perfect size for card making, being 4 1/2″ by 6 1/2″. I distressed the edges of the paper with Raspberry Ripple ink (126859).  This is one of the new 2012-14 In Colours and they are all really scrummy!  The red cardstock is Raspberry Ripple (127545), and I used Whisper White cardstock (124302) for the base of the card and the stamped image.   The manger was also stamped in Raspberry Rippple ink, and I used Summer Starfruit ink (126991) for the star.  I added crochet trim (118481) and Dazzling Details Silver Sparkle (127845) to finish it off.

This is the verse from the inside of the card:

Gorgeous!!

You should have found your way here from Sharon’s blog and the next blog is Emma’s. If you get lost on the tour, the complete list is:

The new catalogue is available online, and the link is in the sidebar on the right.  If you click on the image, it should open up a pdf version of the catalogue in a new webpage if the technology and my html coding is working properly ;)

Have fun on the blog tour!

Apothecary Art

Well, I am still in the process of getting used to being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and all that is involved with this, as well as gradually building up my stash of SU! goodies!  I am  overwhelmed by the amount of stuff in the current catalogue that I feel I must have and I really wish I had a bottomless purse so I could buy everything I want!  The thing I find, though, is that I look at a stamp set and don’t think much of it, but when I go back to it later, I can see all sorts of possiblilities….last week, for instance, I was convinced that the Tea shopppe stamp set would be my next purchase, but what do you know, I end up getting the one on the previous page in the Summer mini, Bright Blossoms!

I’m having a stall at a local craft fair in September, and am planning on doing lots of minimal items (cards, albums, bookmarks etc.) so this stamp set will really fit in with that theme ;) .  I still have plans to get the Tea shoppe set, but how to sneak it past hubbie?  I seem to have bought rather a lot this past week or so….!!!!

One of the first sets I got my grubby little hands on was the Apothecary Art stamp set (125525) and the matching labels collection framelits (125598):

It is such a gorgeous stamp set, really elegant and it makes a lovely card and being able to use the framelits dies is an added bonus ;)  This is the one I made for my parents’ xxth wedding anniversary last week:

I used paper the 2010-12 In Colour designer series paper patterns (117158) and since it is double sided, I was able to use both sides as a contrast.  I added the ribbon from my stash (I am still woefully lacking on the SU! ribbon front, but all that will change tomorrow when I get my next delivery ;) ).  You’ll have to excuse the colour quality of the photos – I took these in my office, which just has artificial light and even with Photoshop I had trouble getting the colour right :( .

The butterflies were made using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die (118138) which I absolutely love. the butterflies are just gorgeous :) .

This was definitely a girly card and my mum loved it….. not quite sure what Dad thought, but then he’s not really into card making, surprise, surprise!

I was so pleased with this card – this set is definitely one of my favourites!

I’m gradually adding stuff to my blog so just watch this space!  I need to work out how to add links to the current catalogue and Summer mini, and then I will be well away!  So, I am off now to investigate how to do this and will also be back shortly with news of a fantastic promotion this month.

See you soon ;)
